Do you want to hear what really happened at Oscarsborg Fortress on April 9, 1940? The author of the book THE COMMANDER, Morten Svindal, will give a lecture at Odderøya, Haubitz Hall on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The book "The Commander, Colonel Birger Eriksen and the Sinking of Blücher" was published by Dreyer Publishing in October 2024. This is the only book written about Colonel Eriksen. Much of the purpose of the book was to write a kind of "standard work" in order to counteract myths and conspiracy theories.
Then came the feature film "Blücher" a few months later, a film that was not very much about the German cruiser, but rather about a day and a half at Oscarsborg Fortress, with elements from the Military Investigation Commission's meeting on April 8, 1946. As a war film, the film is much closer to the historical plot than many previous Norwegian war films have been.
